José Antonio Martínez


Graduated cum laude as an industrial designer from the Universidad Iberoamericana, throughout his long career as a photographer, Jose Antonio Martinez (Mexico, 1950) has made several solo and group exhibitions in Mexico and abroad.


His most recent solo exhibitions includes: "Montag entumecido" (Patricia Conde Galleria, Mexico City), as part of the "Fotoseptiembre 2011" festival; Elegy "(The Atrium Gallery, University of Guanajuato, Guanajuato, Mexico), held in the 37th edition of the International Cervantes Festival, 2009; "Every angel is terrifying" (Museum of Art in Santiago de Querétaro, Querétaro, Mexico, 2009) and "Las Güeras" (Sotocoro at the Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana, Mexico City, 2009 ).


Martinez’s work is part of the collections of the Photographic Center Northwest, Seattle; of the Library of the University of Texas, Austin, United States, as well as The Manuel Alvarez Bravo Photographic Center in Oaxaca.


About the Photo work of Martinez has written, among other authors, Ernesto de la Peña, Arnoldo Kraus, Guillermo Samperio and Mary Ellen Mark.
